Keyword research - What does R/S mean in Keywords Analyzer
Hi
I caught this question being asked a few times on the SERPS so thought it may be a good idea to answer it here.
For those that don’t know Keywords Analyzer, we measure a keywords usefulness or effectiveness for SEO keyword research purposes using two different measures.
The first is simply what is called R/S - or the ratio of keyword demand to supply. It is best illustrated with an example:
Keyword A 100 Searches 1000 Google Web Results with that keyword
R/S is 1000 / 100 = 10
Keyword B 50 Searches 250 Google Web results with that keyword
R/S is 250 / 50 = 5
When comparing keywords, the keyword with the lower R/S is the one to go for first, as the ratio of keywords to results is more favourable to optimising that keyword for higher rankings in the search engines. In Keywords Analyzer you can actually rank all the keywords in your list using R/S to find those keywords with the most attractive possibilities.
As far as KEI is concerned - the formula is a little more involved and was coined by a SEO specialist called Sumantra Roy - although more complicated, KEI essentially achieves the same result by highlighting keywords with favorable ratios. However in the case of KEI as opposed to R/S it is the higher value KEI’s you are looking for when you sort your list using Keywords Analyzer for your SEO keyword research.
